ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers and QA engineers. * Drive solution design, technical decisions, code quality and engineering best practices. * Partner with Product teams to translate business requirements into low-level technical requirements, technical stories and estimates. * Lead design/code reviews and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, reliable and maintainable. * Own technical resolution of complex production issues and security vulnerabilities, including application, runtime and open-source dependencies. * Drive engineering metrics covering quality, automation, security, technical debt and delivery predictability. * Collaborate with Product, Architecture, QA, Security and Cloud/DevOps teams. * Mentor engineers and build strong technical capabilities within the team.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. * 10+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in a technical leadership role preferred. * Proven experience leading technically complex solutions and providing technical direction to cross-functional engineering teams.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
* Strong hands-on experience with React.js, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript and GraphQL. * Experience with PostgreSQL and Solr or similar search technologies. * Strong cloud experience, particularly AWS Lambda, RDS and S3, with exposure to Microsoft Azure. * Good understanding of REST/API design, distributed systems and cloud-native architectures. * Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, performance optimisation and production troubleshooting. * Strong understanding of web/API security, secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation. * Experience designing and supporting scalable customer-facing web applications.
