I build JobTether. It started as a resume tool and became something more specific: a job application agent that reads live openings straight from Indian company career boards, writes a separate resume for each posting, and shows you every change before you approve an application.

The part I did not expect to matter most is the scraper underneath it. To match people to jobs, JobTether reads postings at source from the applicant tracking systems companies host their own openings on — currently around 443 Indian company career boards and 6,300 live postings, refreshed daily. That turned out to be a dataset nobody else in India had, so I started publishing what is in it.

Why the research exists

Almost all job-hunting advice in India is asserted rather than measured, and the few numbers that circulate are American. I would rather publish what the postings actually say, including when the finding is inconvenient or when it argues against my own product.

Every study below is reproducible from the same pool, and each one ships with the limitations that would let you argue with it.

How this site is written

Everything published here is written or edited by me, and the numbers come from our own scrape rather than from secondary sources. Where a figure is quoted, the study it comes from is linked, along with the date it was measured — the job market moves, and a number without a date is not worth much.

Where I have a commercial interest in what I am telling you — a ranking that includes JobTether, a comparison against tools we compete with — it is disclosed in the piece itself rather than in a footer.
