How the AI Interview Coach Works

1

Input Your Resume & JD

Enter the role and paste the job description you are preparing for. Every question is generated from that JD, so no two sessions are the same.

2

Record Your Answer

Brutus reads each question aloud. Tap the mic and answer out loud, or type if you are somewhere you cannot speak.

3

Get Graded on the STAR Method

Brutus scores the answer from 1 to 10, says what worked and what failed, and writes a stronger version. Behavioral answers are rewritten in explicit STAR form.

What one practice session contains

Generic question banks train you to recite answers to questions nobody will ask. Every session here is built from the job description you are actually interviewing for, in a fixed mix that mirrors how a real interview loop is structured.

3 behavioral questions

Scenarios someone in this exact role would face. Answer them in STAR form.

4 technical questions

Pulled straight from the skills, tools and requirements listed in the JD.

2 situational questions

Hypothetical work problems that test how you reason through a decision.

1 curveball

Something unexpected, to show how you think under pressure.

The questions get harder as you go: the first two are warm-ups, the middle five are standard interview difficulty, and the last three are deliberately hard. That ordering matters. Most candidates handle the opener and come apart on the follow-ups, which is exactly where practice pays off.

What you get back after every answer

Feedback like “good answer, maybe add more detail” teaches you nothing. Each answer is graded the way a hiring manager who has sat through thousands of interviews would grade it, in five parts.

  • A score from 1 to 10. Scores of 8 and up are rare and earned. A vague or off-topic answer lands at 3 or below.

  • What actually worked. Specific, often quoting your own words back to you, so you know what to keep.

  • What failed. Vague claims, missing results, rambling, and the things an interviewer penalises silently without ever saying so.

  • The interviewer's unfiltered thought. The one sentence going through a senior interviewer's head when you stop talking.

  • A stronger version of your answer. 150 to 250 words, in STAR form for behavioral questions and with concrete tools, numbers and outcomes for technical ones.

Comparing your answer with the rewrite is where most of the learning happens. Often the story was fine and the outcome was missing, or the answer described what the team did rather than what you did.

AI Interview Coach: common questions

What kind of questions does the AI Interview Coach ask?

Each session is 10 questions generated from the job description you paste: 3 behavioral questions, 4 technical or role-specific questions drawn from the skills and tools the JD lists, 2 situational scenarios, and 1 curveball. They get harder as you go, and none of them is a generic question that would fit any role.

How are my answers graded?

Every answer gets a score from 1 to 10. 1 to 3 means vague or off-topic, 4 to 5 is below average, 6 to 7 is a solid structure without enough depth, 8 to 9 is specific and compelling, and 10 is reserved for answers better than most candidates would give. You also get what worked, what failed, the one-line thought a senior interviewer would have, and a rewritten answer of 150 to 250 words.

Can I speak my answers instead of typing?

Yes. Sessions are voice-enabled: Brutus reads each question aloud and you answer through your microphone, which is closer to a real interview. Typing works too if you would rather not speak.

What is the STAR method?

STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. It is the structure most interviewers expect for behavioral questions such as "tell me about a time you handled a conflict". Set up the context, say what you were responsible for, explain what you personally did, and end with a measurable outcome. The coach rewrites weak behavioral answers in explicit STAR form so you can see the difference.

Is the AI Interview Coach free?

No. Mock interviews are part of the JobTether Elite plan at ₹999 a month, which also includes the Salary Negotiation Coach and keeps a history of your past sessions so you can review them before the real interview.

Does it work for interviews in India?

Yes. The questions come from the JD you supply, so they match the role whether it is a campus placement, a service-company interview or a product-company loop. The tougher the JD, the tougher the questions.
