Naukri Profile Tips: How to Set Up Your Profile to Get More Recruiter Calls

Published on June 23, 2026 • 6 min read

LinkedIn might be cooler, but in India, Naukri.com is still the undisputed king of recruitment. Over 80% of hiring in India touches Naukri at some point.

If you aren't getting calls, it's not because there are no jobs. It is because Naukri's search algorithm is burying your profile on page 47 of the recruiter's search results. Here is how to hack the algorithm and get your phone ringing.

Master Guide

Ultimate Guide to Resume Formats (2026)

Struggling to choose between Chronological, Functional, or Hybrid formats? Get step-by-step blueprints tailored for Indian job seekers.

1. The "Active" Hack (Update Daily)

Naukri ranks profiles based on recent activity. A profile updated today will always rank higher than a profile updated last month.

The Trick: You don't need to rewrite your resume every day. Log in every morning, go to your resume summary, add a period at the end of a sentence, and hit save. The next day, delete the period and hit save. This flags your profile as "Updated Today" in the recruiter database.

2. The Headline is Your SEO

Recruiters search by keywords. Your Headline is the most heavily weighted text field. Do not write "Experienced Professional seeking new opportunities."

Write keyword-stuffed strings: "Senior Java Developer | Spring Boot | Microservices | AWS | 5 Years Exp | Notice Period: 30 Days." Tell them exactly what you are and what your constraints are immediately.

3. Profile Completeness (Must be 100%)

Naukri penalizes incomplete profiles. If your profile is at 85%, you are losing visibility. Fill in every single field. Add your 10th and 12th details. Add your languages. Add your projects. Reach 100%.

4. Key Skills Optimization

Naukri allows you to add multiple IT and Key Skills. Look at 5 job descriptions for your dream role. Extract every tool, framework, and methodology mentioned. Add them all to your Key Skills section. Do not lie, but be comprehensive. If you know React, also add "Frontend Development," "JavaScript," and "Redux."

5. Attached Resume vs. Profile Text

The resume you attach (PDF/DOCX) is what the recruiter downloads. But the text you fill into Naukri's web forms is what the search engine actually crawls. Make sure the text in your Naukri work experience section matches your attached resume exactly. Do not just upload the PDF and leave the web fields blank.

Is Naukri Premium Worth It?

For freshers? No. For senior professionals (8+ years) looking for a very specific niche jump or who are terrible at writing resumes? Maybe. The "Resume Display" feature boosts you slightly, but a well-optimized free profile updated daily will always outperform a neglected premium profile.

Your Resume Must Match the Hype

Optimizing your profile gets you the call. Your attached resume gets you the interview.
