EnhanceCV vs JobTether — Which One Actually Fixes Your Resume?
Published on May 5, 2026 • 4 min read
When you're serious about your job search, you need more than just a document. You need a weapon. Two tools often come up in this conversation: EnhanceCV and JobTether. While they might seem similar, they serve completely different purposes.
EnhanceCV: The Designer
EnhanceCV is primarily a resume builder. It's fantastic at taking your information and putting it into beautiful, modern templates that stand out visually.
- Best for: People who are starting from scratch or want a visual "pop."
- Core Feature: High-end design and layout customization.
- The Catch: It won't necessarily tell you if your experience is written poorly. It makes bad content look good.
JobTether: The Strategist
JobTether is a resume optimizer and fixer. We don't care about the font as much as we care about the words. We assume you already have a resume, and we're here to tell you why it's getting rejected.
- Best for: People who are applying but not getting interviews.
- Core Feature: Brutal AI roasting and full content rewrites.
- The Catch: We focus on the content first. Our goal is to make your experience undeniable to a recruiter.

They Solve Different Problems, Not the Same One Badly
The comparison gets framed as "which tool is better," which is the wrong question. A resume builder and a resume reviewer sit at different points in the process, and picking the wrong one for your situation wastes money regardless of how good the product is.
If you have no resume, or one so old it is easier to start again, a builder is the right starting point — it gives you structure and a layout that parses. If you already have a resume and are applying without getting callbacks, a builder will hand you a better-looking version of the same content, and your results will not change. That is the distinction that actually matters.
Design Is Rarely Why You Are Being Rejected
It is tempting to believe a more attractive template is the missing piece, because design is visible and content quality is not. But screening happens in two stages, and neither rewards decoration. The ATS reads text and ignores styling entirely. The recruiter who follows spends a few seconds looking for evidence — a relevant title, a number, a recognisable skill.
Elaborate templates can actively hurt at the first stage. Multi-column layouts, sidebars, icons standing in for section headings, and text inside graphics are all common in design-led builders and all parse unreliably. A plain document with strong content beats a beautiful one with vague content every time, which is the opposite of most people's intuition.
Which to Use, By Situation
- Fresher with nothing written yet: Start with a builder to get a clean structure, then have the content reviewed before you apply anywhere.
- Applying steadily with no responses: The problem is almost certainly content or targeting. A new template will not fix it — get the existing resume critiqued.
- Changing industry or function: Review, decisively. Repositioning experience is a content problem and a hard one.
- Resume is fine but you are unsure it parses: Run an ATS check first. It is the cheapest diagnostic and often the only thing needed.
- Applying to design or creative roles: You may genuinely need both — a plain version for the ATS and a visual one for the portfolio review.
A Fair Note on Bias
We build one of the two tools being compared here, so treat our conclusion with appropriate scepticism. What we would stand behind regardless of who wrote it: EnhanceCV is a well-made builder and does the job it is designed for. If what you need is a structured document from scratch, it is a reasonable choice and we would not pretend otherwise.
The genuine argument for a reviewer over a builder is narrower than our marketing would suggest. It applies when you already have a resume and cannot work out why it is not working. That is a real and common situation — but it is not everyone's, and buying the wrong tool for your stage of the process is a waste whichever vendor you pick.
